Kangaroo Point Occupational Therapy Industry Leaders
What Is Mobile Occupational Therapy?
Occupational therapy (OT) is an evidence-based allied health discipline focused on helping people participate in the everyday activities that are meaningful to them from self-care and household tasks to work, study and community involvement. Occupational therapists assess the relationship between a person, their environment and the activities they want or need to do, and provide practical strategies, modifications and support to improve independence and function.
Mobile occupational therapy takes this support directly to the client. Rather than attending a clinic, our occupational therapists travel to the home, school, workplace or community setting where daily life happens. This allows therapy to be applied immediately and practically, making it more relevant, effective and accessible, particularly for people who face barriers to attending a clinic.
At Physio Inq, our mobile occupational therapists are AHPRA-registered clinicians, and registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia; who deliver assessment and therapy across a wide range of needs, ages and conditions. We work collaboratively with clients, families, carers and other allied health professionals to ensure support is coordinated and goal-directed.
What our mobile occupational therapists can help with:
- Activities of daily living (ADL) assessment and retraining
- Home modification recommendations and equipment prescription
- Functional capacity assessments for NDIS planning
- Cognitive rehabilitation and daily routine support
- Fine motor skill development and upper limb function
- Sensory processing support
- Fatigue management and energy conservation strategies
- Return to work or study assessment and planning
- Assistive technology assessment and prescription
- Carer and family education and training
- Community access and participation goals
All treatment plans are developed in collaboration with the client, their family or carer, and the broader care team.
How We Deliver Mobile Occupational Therapy
Physio Inq delivers mobile occupational therapy across three service channels, ensuring accessible, flexible support regardless of a client’s location or circumstances.
In Your Home
Home-based occupational therapy allows our therapists to assess the actual environment where a client lives and functions. This is particularly important for home modification recommendations, equipment prescriptions and daily living assessments, where the real-world context makes a significant difference to the quality and relevance of the outcome.
Home visits remove the burden of travel and allow therapy to take place in a familiar, comfortable setting. Our occupational therapists bring all necessary assessment tools and equipment to each session, and schedule appointments at times that suit the client and their support network.
In Your Community
For clients with goals related to community participation, work, study or social engagement, Physio Inq can deliver occupational therapy in schools, workplaces, community centres and other relevant settings. Therapy in the community environment allows goals to be practised and refined in the actual context where they need to be applied.
Online (Telehealth)
Telehealth occupational therapy is available for assessments, consultations, carer coaching and follow-up sessions that do not require hands-on or environmental assessment. It is particularly useful for clients in regional or remote areas, or as a flexible complement to in-person sessions.
